Opportunity:
RN - ER
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts required
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, acuity permitting
• Must have at least 2 years of experience as an Emergency Department RN
• 1 year of experience in an acute patient care department required (waived for new grad RNs)
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse), CPEN (Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse)
• PALS by the American Heart Association or ENCP required within 4 months of hire
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Scrub color is open choice - clean and well fitting, no specific color requirement
• 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• May be required to float to the Clinical Decision Unit (ED observation, less than 24 hours) as needed
• Travelers may be assigned to triage on a case-by-case basis if determined to be fully competent
• Care for patients with diagnoses including trauma, STEMI, stroke, respiratory distress, abdominal pain, and orthopedic complaints
• Administer and manage common drips including Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, Levophed, and sedation medications
• Work within a 29-bed ED including 2 trauma bays and a 10-bed Clinical Decision Unit
• Up to 24 hours of cancellation permitted per 13-week contract
Facility:
This facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center and a Regional STEMI and certified Stroke Center with neurology and interventional radiology services available. The emergency department treats approximately 140-150 patients per day and is supported by dedicated respiratory therapy staff, monitor technicians using Philips brand monitors, ED techs who are a mix of EMTs and paramedics, and 24/7 security with quick response times. The facility features a fast track area, a separate triage area, a locked 4-room Psychiatric Care Unit, and imaging located adjacent to the ED with transport staff available.
