Opportunity:
RN MICU- UCHealth University of CO
Job Details:
• Night shift position with various days of the week
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit caring for critically ill adult patients
• Care for a wide variety of conditions including pulmonary diseases, septic shock, multi-organ failure, GI bleeds, liver disease, acute respiratory failure, and drug overdose
• Perform and manage therapies including ventilator support, vasoactive medications, continuous renal replacement therapy, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and post-arrest targeted temperature management
• Float within scope to meet facility needs, including potential float to sister facilities within Metro Region
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; academic medical center experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted if required experience is met and candidate is comfortable with high acuity unit
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA)
• Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ventilator management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and additional critical care competencies
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, interpretation services, and unit secretary
• Patient age groups served: adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

This academic medical center houses a busy 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit focused on delivering high-quality care to critically ill adult patients. The facility supports a robust multidisciplinary team environment with interdisciplinary collaboration across physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more. The unit is known for its outstanding teamwork and commitment to excellence in critical care, making it a dynamic and rewarding environment for experienced ICU nurses.
