Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with a required 30-minute unpaid break
• Every other weekend and holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Unit contains 30 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-6 patients on days and 5-6 patients on nights, occasionally up to 7 at night
• Common patient diagnoses include post-op knee, hip, shoulder, thyroidectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, HTN, heart failure, pneumonia, COPD, AMS, TIA, diabetes, sepsis, UTI, and AKI
• At least 1 year of Med Surg experience required
• Nurse aids available with a 1:10 ratio
• Charge nurse takes an assignment, sometimes full and sometimes modified
• RT equipment includes CPAP at night (home settings) and BiPAP (rare)
• Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor with tele techs on site; RNs are not required to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Rare titration of drips required; common drips include Heparin and PCAs
• Floating required to like units; may float as a CNA to IMC, ICU, or ED
• Charting system: Cerner
• BSN not required
• Navy blue scrubs required
• 3-day unit orientation for agency staff
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility will be subject to a local rate reduction
• Block scheduling available with the ability to work up to 48 hours

This acute care facility operates a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit on the 4th floor, providing comprehensive care for a wide variety of post-operative and medical patients. The facility supports a collaborative work environment with flexible scheduling managed by accommodating unit managers. Staff have access to central telemetry monitoring, respiratory therapy equipment, and a fully integrated electronic charting system to support high-quality patient care.
