Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CCRN certification preferred
• 1+ years of CVICU/cardiac critical care experience required
• Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support

Duties:

• Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiac and post-cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in hemodynamic and cardiac status, escalating care as needed
• Administer medications, including titratable vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips, per physician orders
• Manage and monitor advanced life support and cardiac equipment (ventilators, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP, ECMO as applicable)
• Provide immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients, including chest tube and pacing wire management
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plan, and recovery process
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
• Maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios per acuity and facility staffing guidelines
