Description

Requirements:

Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
BLS certification required; ACLS preferred depending on facility
OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required
1+ years of oncology experience required
Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills (peripheral, PICC, port access)

Duties:

Provide nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy
Assess patients pre-, during, and post-treatment, monitoring for adverse reactions and side effects
Administer chemotherapy and other antineoplastic agents per physician orders and safety protocols
Initiate and manage vascular access, including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and implanted ports
Manage symptoms related to cancer and treatment side effects (nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia)
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and self-care strategies
Provide emotional support to patients and families navigating cancer diagnosis and treatment
Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient response in the EMR
Adhere to safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs per OSHA/USP <800> guidelines
