Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred depending on facility
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required
• 1+ years of Med Surg Oncology experience required
• Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills (peripheral, PICC, port access)

Duties:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult oncology patients on a general medical-surgical oncology unit
• Assess patients pre-, during, and post-treatment, monitoring for adverse reactions and treatment side effects
• Administer chemotherapy and other antineoplastic agents per physician orders and safety protocols
• Manage pre- and post-operative care for oncology surgical patients, including wound care and pain management
• Initiate and manage vascular access, including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and implanted ports
• Manage symptoms related to cancer and treatment side effects (nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia)
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and self-care strategies
• Collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient response in the EMR
• Adhere to safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs per OSHA/USP <800> guidelines
