Description

Requirements:

  • Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • RCIS certification preferred
  • 1+ years of cath lab experience required
  • Ability to respond to emergent/on-call cases (cath lab roles often require call coverage)

Duties:

  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures (diagnostic angiograms, PCI/stent placements, device implants)
  • Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic status throughout procedures, alerting the team to changes
  • Administer medications, sedation, and contrast media per physician orders and protocol
  • Assist physicians during procedures, including circulating and monitoring roles
  • Prepare and educate patients pre-procedure; provide recovery care and discharge instructions post-procedure
  • Manage vascular access sites, including sheath removal and hemostasis per protocol
  • Respond to emergent complications (arrhythmias, hemorrhage, vasovagal reactions) with appropriate interventions
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, cath lab techs, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient response in the EMR
