Description
- Unit: 5A MedSurg
- Number of Beds: 22
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
- Required Certifications: BLS
- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
- Acute Stroke
- Neuro population
- General medical floor
- Titrating Drips: Not required
- Charge Nurse: Available on each shift; takes an assignment
- Support Staff:
- Nurse aides/patient care techs present; ratios may vary
- Respiratory Therapy Equipment:
- Bipap and High Flow; RNs can troubleshoot while RT manages
- Telemetry:
- Centralized telemetry technology; RNs required to review strips each shift
- Scheduling:
- Self-scheduling, subject to change for balance
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
- Holiday Requirement: 2 summer holidays and 3 winter holidays
- On-Call/Standby: None required
- Floating Requirements: Yes; may be pulled to other floors
- Dress Code: Galaxy Blue scrubs
- Orientation: 1-2 shifts of unit/department specific orientation
- Cancellation Policy: Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
- Charting System: EPIC
- BSN Required: Not mandatory
- License to Submit: Yes
- Trauma Level: Acute
