Description
**Job Description:**
- **Shift:** Night 4x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)
- **Experience Required:**
- Minimum 2 years of nursing with 1 year of direct MedSurg experience
- Must have at least 2 successful travel contracts (1st time travelers will not be accepted)
- **Required Skills:**
- IV Start and Telemetry
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias
- Med/Surg neuro experience
- **Certifications:**
- BCLS
- NIH
- NIHSS
- ACLS (preferred but not required)
- **Patient Care Focus:**
- Primarily care for stroke patients
- Also manage other neuro diagnoses, including epilepsy and traumatic/non-traumatic subdural hematomas
- **Special Procedures/Unit Details:**
- 4 BED Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
- Ongoing training available for nurses in EMU
- **Unit Details:**
- Daily census: Approximately 42 patients
- Floating required to MS/Tele areas, including COVID care units
- 1:6 patient ratios
- **Scheduling Requirements:**
- Contracts accepted for 13-20 weeks
- Must work every other weekend
- Floating may be frequent based on unit needs
- **Orientation & Training:**
- 36 Hours of unit orientation
- EKG Testing required prior to start
- **Scrubs:** Navy
- **General Information:**
- Open to local candidates, though a rate difference applies
- RTO (Request Time Off) policies:
- Up to 7 days auto-approved (no holidays)
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- No RTO during the first week
