Description
Requirements:
- Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- 1+ years of L&D/LDRP experience required
- Experience with fetal monitoring, deliveries, and postpartum/couplet care
Duties:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns across the full continuum: labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum, all in one room/unit
- Assess and interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and uterine contraction patterns, escalating concerns as needed
- Administer medications, including labor induction/augmentation agents and epidural support, per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide immediate recovery care post-delivery (including post-C-section recovery as applicable)
- Perform postpartum maternal assessments and newborn assessments as part of couplet care
- Manage high-risk OB and postpartum conditions with appropriate emergency interventions
- Support and educate mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and bonding
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatric team on plan of care
- Accurately document labor, delivery, and postpartum care in the EMR
- Provide continuity of care by remaining with the same patient throughout her hospital stay (a hallmark of the LDRP model)
