Description
**Job Description:**
- Guaranteed 48 hours per week
- Shifts: 07:00 - 19:00
- Start Date: 12/14
- Location: Surgical Specialty Unit (SSU)
- Address: 5721 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS 66209
**Unit Specifics:**
- Number of Beds: 20 private
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 total patient care, 5:1 with a patient care tech
- Staffing: Typically 1 tech and 4-5 nurses on the floor
**Equipment Used:**
- Alaris IV Pumps
- CADD epidural pumps
- Alaris PCA
- Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine
- Telemetry equipment
- EKG machines
- Bladder scanners
- Wound vacs
- Capnostream machines
- SCD Pumps
**Documentation System:**
- Medi tech
**Scheduling Requirements:**
- Every 3rd weekend
- Two Mondays and Fridays per 4-week scheduling period
**On Call Requirements:**
- Floating policy to similar medical/surgical/telemetry units, including ortho neuro center, med/tele, 4N, CDU
**Patient Experience:**
- Fast-paced unit
**Hospital-Specific Certifications:**
- Center of Excellence in Colorectal and Robotics
- MBSAQIP certified in Bariatric surgery
**Requested Skill Set:**
- Must Have: Med-surg experience
- Advanced Skills Needed: Understanding of post-operative care
**Procedures Performed on Unit:**
- Ostomy management and irrigation
- NGT placement and management
- Foley catheter placement and maintenance
- Central line management
- JP drains
- Wound management
- IV starts
- Blood administration
- Nutritional supplementation including TPN and G/J tubes
**Certifications Required:**
- BLS
**Dress Code:**
- Royal Blue tops and Black or Royal Blue bottoms
