Med/Surg RN Job Details – Winston-Salem, NC
- Location: Winston-Salem, NC 27157 – Explore North Carolina healthcare jobs in a city known for its arts, history, and scenic parks.
- Facility: Academic Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain & Stroke Center
- Unit: 9 Reynolds Tower (Med/Surg/Telemetry), 25 beds, average census 21 patients/day
- Assignment Start Date: August 25, 2025
- Assignment End Date: November 22, 2025
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM start), 36 hours/week guaranteed
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1470–$1570/week
- Employment Type: Travel RN
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free on-site parking
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Proficient in wound care, chest tubes, tracheostomies, surgical drains, PCA, NGT, and cardiac drips
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care to diverse populations including multi-trauma, TBI, post-surgical, and telemetry patients
- Manage patient ratios of 1:5-6 (acuity dependent)
- Perform wound care, manage chest tubes, trachs, surgical drains, and administer medications (including ketamine and heparin drips)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team: CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, and trauma service/residents
- Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
- Participate in departmental orientation and ongoing professional development
- Promote a positive, teamwork-oriented nursing unit culture
