PICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Healthcare Facility: Leading Teaching Hospital in Milwaukee, WI
• Contract Length: 13 or 16 weeks
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Location: Milwaukee, WI 53226 – Wisconsin healthcare jobs
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2100-$2250

PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin or Compact State RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Current AHA BLS and AHA PALS certifications
• Minimum 1 year of recent PICU nursing experience
• Hands-on experience with tracheostomies and ventilators required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• EPIC charting experience highly preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

PICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality pediatric critical care to patients in the PICU
• Manage patient ratios of 1:1–3, based on acuity
• Float to all inpatient units, including critical care, NICU, and acute care
• Operate specialized equipment: oscillators, ICP monitors, EVDs, CRRT
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team in a teaching hospital
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to infection control and safety standards
• Support neurosurgical, general surgical, trauma, and medical/respiratory pediatric patients from neonate through young adult
