Mammography Technologist Job Details

Mammography Technologist Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Mammography Technologist or Radiologic Technologist
- Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiology and Mammography required
- Experience with 3D Tomosynthesis mammography required
- Preferred: Experience with Hologic Mammography equipment and Epic EMR systems
- Strong knowledge of radioactive material safety protocols
- Excellent communication, clinical support, and patient care skills
Mammography Technologist Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic breast imaging and correlative breast examinations, documenting scars, moles, and relevant findings
- Educate patients on breast self-examination and the importance of annual clinical breast exams
- Accurately identify patients using two identifiers and adhere to universal safety protocols
- Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal imaging results
- Document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Conduct mammography procedures with technical proficiency, including breast compression, positioning, and special imaging views
- Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and understanding throughout the process
- Perform equipment quality control procedures using radioactive sources and evaluate results to ensure compliance with healthcare standards
