Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Float Requirements: Will float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and MSICU units; possible float to other critical care and inpatient units as needed
• On Call/Call Back: May be low censused and put on call; minimum 2-hour call back

Unit & Patient Population

• 8-bed Neuro unit with patients from Med/Surg ICU
• Patient types include Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Head Injury, Neurosurgery
• Experience with Neuro Interventional patients is a plus
• Familiarity with EVDs (External Ventricular Drains) and ICP (Intracranial Pressure) monitoring required

Primary Responsibilities

• Neuro assessments and basic bedside ICU procedures (e.g., line placement, intubation)
• Neuro-specific procedures including bolt and drain bedside placements with Neurosurgery
• Future care of Neuro interventional patients

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU with strong neuro assessment skills required
• Travel Experience: 1 prior travel assignment preferred
• Charting: EPIC experience required

• Must be able to manage independently, be resilient, and adapt well to change
• Scrub colors: any color allowed
• Radius rule: Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy (mandatory compliance)
• Contract includes eligibility for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; call back pay applies if called in during these hours
• GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation week
