Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of cardiac stepdown or relevant nursing experience
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to cardiac stepdown patients, including post-op CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery cases
• Perform initial patient assessments and create individualized care plans
• Implement and adjust nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation
• Maintain accurate documentation of clinical care and nursing procedures
• Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and correcting hazards
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Participate in hourly rounding and proactively support patients and colleagues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Meet all departmental and hospital competencies for cardiac stepdown nursing
