Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of cardiac stepdown or relevant nursing experience
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to cardiac stepdown patients, including post-op CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery cases
- Perform initial patient assessments and create individualized care plans
- Implement and adjust nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation
- Maintain accurate documentation of clinical care and nursing procedures
- Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and correcting hazards
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Participate in hourly rounding and proactively support patients and colleagues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Meet all departmental and hospital competencies for cardiac stepdown nursing
