Key Job Details – PICU RN Travel Contract
- Location: Denver, CO 80204 (Colorado nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,220 – $2,280
- Start Date: November 17, 2025 (flexible)
- End Date: February 16, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-Call: 1 mandatory on-call per 4-week schedule (rarely called in)
- Weekend Requirement: Up to every weekend
- Charting System: EPIC EHR
- Unit: Combined Pediatric and PICU (20 pediatric beds, 8 PICU beds)
PICU Charge RN Qualifications
- Active Colorado or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Charge RN experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or preceptor experience
- Level II trauma nursing experience required
- Certifications (AHA required): BLS, ACLS, PALS
- EPIC EHR charting experience preferred
- COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening, including THC/marijuana panel
- Willingness to float within clinical expertise as needed
- First-time travel nurses welcome
PICU Charge Nurse Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate care as the Charge RN for pediatric and PICU patients
- Manage patient assignments based on acuity (ratios typically 1:3; new trauma patients 1:1, transitioning to 1:2 as acuity decreases)
- Supervise and support nursing staff, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based pediatric care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, and more
- Utilize advanced clinical skills in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, central line care, and pediatric critical care procedures
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC EHR
- Participate in mandatory on-call rotation and weekend coverage as scheduled
- Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols
