PICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Portland, Oregon (97239) – Oregon nursing jobs
• Facility: Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, Teaching Hospital
• Unit: 8N PICU – 20 beds
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/28/2025 – End: 1/27/2026)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (W2)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2200-$2360
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Floating: Yes, to NICU and Pediatric Units
• Charting: EPIC EMR
• Scrubs: Provided for OR

PICU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVICU nursing experience, including post-operative heart care
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Oregon or compact state (pending license accepted with application submitted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Professional references required
• First-time travel nurses accepted with required experience
• Ability to float to NICU and Pediatric Units
• No background or license issues accepted

PICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and young adult patients
• Perform bedside procedures: central line and arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation/extubation, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulation/decannulation, chest exploration, and emergent operative procedures
• Utilize advanced medical equipment: Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, Baxter Prismaflex Machines
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and social workers
• Float to NICU and other pediatric units as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
• Complete orientation and required training modules prior to start
