PCU Registered Nurse Job Details – Amarillo, TX
- Location: Amarillo, TX 79106
- Unit: 5300-1015 Intermediate Care 6C (24 beds)
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – mix of med/surg and intermediate care patients
- Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 10, 2025
- End Date: February 9, 2026
- Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30), 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1620 - $1660
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:6, depending on assignment
- Orientation: 24 hours onsite
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience, including charge nurse responsibilities
- Active RN license in Texas or compact state (Texas nursing jobs preferred)
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience within the last 6 months required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
- Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if needed
- Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a PCU/stepdown and intermediate care setting
- Serve as charge nurse as needed, providing clinical leadership and support
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, administer blood products, and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
- Perform central and peripheral line care and management
- Utilize rapid response and code teams as appropriate
- Administer oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
- Implement isolation precautions and provide telemetry monitoring
- Float to other hospital departments of equal or lesser acuity as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
