PCU Registered Nurse Job Details – Amarillo, TX

• Location: Amarillo, TX 79106
• Unit: 5300-1015 Intermediate Care 6C (24 beds)
• Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – mix of med/surg and intermediate care patients
• Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 10, 2025
• End Date: February 9, 2026
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30), 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1620 - $1660
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:6, depending on assignment
• Orientation: 24 hours onsite

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience, including charge nurse responsibilities
• Active RN license in Texas or compact state (Texas nursing jobs preferred)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience within the last 6 months required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
• Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if needed
• Travel nursing experience preferred but not required

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in a PCU/stepdown and intermediate care setting
• Serve as charge nurse as needed, providing clinical leadership and support
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, administer blood products, and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Perform central and peripheral line care and management
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as appropriate
• Administer oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and provide telemetry monitoring
• Float to other hospital departments of equal or lesser acuity as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
