Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Amarillo, TX 79106 (Texas healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care (6C)
• Start Date: November 10, 2025
• End Date: February 9, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night Shift, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts available)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1620 - $1660
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:6
• Unit Size: 24 beds
• Orientation: 24 hours onsite

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in cardiac stepdown, intermediate care, or med/surg settings
• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state (Texas RN jobs)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association preferred)
• Recent Epic EMR experience (within the last 6 months) required
• Clinical skills: telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code team participation, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drip management (no titration), oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
• Must reside at least 50 miles from Amarillo, TX (no local candidates)
• Willingness to float to units of equal or lower acuity as needed
• Availability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a cardiac stepdown/intermediate care environment
• Monitor and manage cardiac and med/surg patients, including telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams such as physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
• Adhere to infection control protocols and isolation precautions
• Participate in rapid response and code blue situations as needed
• Float to similar or lower acuity units to support patient care as required
