PICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Charleston, SC 29401 (South Carolina pediatric nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Pediatric ICU Float Pool (PICU, CVPICU, NICU)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Start Date: November 3, 2025
- End Date: February 2, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; holiday rotation required
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 / 1:3
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680 - $1800
Pediatric ICU Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric ICU (PICU) nursing experience required
- Active South Carolina RN License or Multi-State/Compact State Registered Nurse License (must be active prior to start)
- BLS and PALS certifications (AHA required)
- Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred
- Proficient in pediatric critical care skills: anti-seizure medications, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, airway management, central/implanted line care, continuous sedation, ICP monitoring, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, IV vasopressors, pediatric dosage calculations, and PICC line management
- Experience with electronic charting systems required
- Ability to float to all pediatric units (PICU, CVPICU, NICU) as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
PICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients in critical care settings
- Float between Pediatric ICU, Cardiovascular PICU, and Neonatal ICU units as needed
- Monitor and manage complex pediatric patient conditions, including ventilator and sedation management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and more
- Administer medications, manage central and PICC lines, and perform advanced pediatric assessments
- Participate in emergency response teams during hurricane season as required
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies and clinical procedures
