Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Athens, Texas (75751) – Texas nursing jobs
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown (Med/Surg Floor 2)
• Start Date: November 17, 2025
• End Date: February 16, 2026
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Charting System: EPIC EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or Intermediate Care (IMC) nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC documentation system
• Must not reside in the following Texas counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris
• No first-time travelers

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Manage O2 protocols, non-invasive airway management, and peripheral line care
• Administer blood products, manage central and PICC lines, and perform wound care
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Respond to rapid response and code situations as part of the healthcare team
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapists and unit secretaries
• Maintain isolation precautions and adhere to PPE protocols
• Participate in orientation and complete required onsite training modules
