Med/Surg LPN Job Details
- Location: Klamath Falls, Oregon (Zip: 97601) – Southern Oregon healthcare jobs
- Setting: Acute Care – Medical Surgical (Med/Surg), Discharge Ready Unit
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/29/2025 – End: 1/28/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts; every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1420 - $1530
- Charting System: EpicCare Inpatient (Epic Systems Corporation)
Med/Surg LPN Qualifications
- Active Oregon State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care or medical surgical nursing experience
- Proficiency in clinical nursing skills, patient assessment, and electronic documentation
- Experience with discharge planning and patient education in a hospital setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Physical ability to frequently stoop, bend, reach, stand, walk, and sit; able to lift at least 50 pounds and push/pull hospital equipment
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Med/Surg LPN Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for individuals medically ready for discharge under RN supervision
- Conduct focused patient assessments and implement prioritized nursing interventions
- Delegate and supervise tasks to LPNs, CNAs, and assistive personnel according to licensure and patient needs
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately in the electronic health record (EpicCare)
- Support patient and family education, including discharge instructions, medication teaching, and follow-up care planning
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe and efficient patient transitions
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and discharge efficiency
- Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols; promptly report any concerns
