Labor & Delivery RN Job Details
- Location: Tucson, AZ 85712 (Southern Arizona healthcare jobs)
- Facility: Labor & Delivery Unit (636 L&D RN)
- Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)
- Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (4 weekend shifts/month)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Orientation: 36 hours (TMC orientation held twice monthly)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Arizona RN license (or compact state license eligible for Arizona nursing jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP
- AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (completed within the last 2 years)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic charting system
- Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Must be able to work every other weekend
- No local candidates (must reside outside a 75-mile radius of Tucson)
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Deliver expert nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a fast-paced L&D unit
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, and antepartum/postpartum complications
- Monitor and perform fetal assessments using electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and specialized equipment
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as required
- Provide breastfeeding support and lactation education to new parents
- Educate families on newborn care, discharge planning, and car seat safety
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
- Float to other nursing units as assigned
