Job Details – OR RN Travel Assignment
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: December 15, 2025
- Shifts: 3x12-hour days (06:45 – 19:15), Friday, Saturday, Sunday; every third weekend is 7p–7a
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2200–$2260
- On-Call: Yes, approximately 1/week
- Unit: 23 Operating Rooms (all service lines except CV)
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Provided
- Parking: Free with permit
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in a Level I trauma center
- Active Illinois RN license (or in process)
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- Travel nursing experience required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
- Experience with Cerner charting preferred
- CNOR and CST certifications preferred
- General OR and trauma nursing experience required
- Required case experience: Bariatric (laparoscopic), General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple), Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), Orthopedic (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reduction), Plastic (free flap/microvascular), Transplant (organ donation), Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), Trauma (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA)
- Emergency management skills: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
- Equipment experience: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Circulate and/or scrub for diverse surgical procedures (excluding CV) as an OR RN
- Deliver trauma and emergency care in a high-acuity, fast-paced hospital environment
- Administer blood products and uphold infection control and radiation safety protocols
- Accurately handle and label surgical specimens
- Participate in universal protocol (time out) procedures and maintain patient safety
- Float to other units within skill set as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care
