Job Details – OR RN Travel Assignment

• Location: Springfield, IL 62781
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• Shifts: 3x12-hour days (06:45 – 19:15), Friday, Saturday, Sunday; every third weekend is 7p–7a
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2200–$2260
• On-Call: Yes, approximately 1/week
• Unit: 23 Operating Rooms (all service lines except CV)
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in a Level I trauma center
• Active Illinois RN license (or in process)
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• Travel nursing experience required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• CNOR and CST certifications preferred
• General OR and trauma nursing experience required
• Required case experience: Bariatric (laparoscopic), General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple), Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), Orthopedic (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reduction), Plastic (free flap/microvascular), Transplant (organ donation), Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), Trauma (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA)
• Emergency management skills: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
• Equipment experience: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Circulate and/or scrub for diverse surgical procedures (excluding CV) as an OR RN
• Deliver trauma and emergency care in a high-acuity, fast-paced hospital environment
• Administer blood products and uphold infection control and radiation safety protocols
• Accurately handle and label surgical specimens
• Participate in universal protocol (time out) procedures and maintain patient safety
• Float to other units within skill set as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care
