Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Milwaukee, WI 53215 (Wisconsin nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Level III Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks (Start: 12/1/2025 – End: 2/21/2026)
- Nursing Shift: 10-hour day shifts
- Hours per Week: 40
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000-$2050
- On-Call: Once per month (24h weekend call), end-of-shift call up to once/week (30 min response time)
- Orientation: 2 weeks
- Parking: Free on-site
- On-site Amenities: Cafeteria and Starbucks available
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or compact state
- BLS certification (required)
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR/Surgical Assistant experience
- Strong clinical background in cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries (CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, heart transplants)
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Not recommended for first-time travel nurses
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Circulate and assist in CVOR cases, collaborating with surgical staff and fellow RNs
- Support a variety of cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including robotic-assisted surgeries
- Maintain 1:1 patient ratio during surgical procedures
- Accurately document pain levels and medication administration per facility protocols
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond within 30 minutes as required
- Utilize EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, and DaVinci XI healthcare systems and equipment
- Adhere to fatigue policy: maximum 60 hours/week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
- Communicate effectively with department supervisor, manager, and team lead
