ICU RN Job Details
- Location: Lexington, Kentucky 40503
- Unit: 2B North ICU (Neuro Intensive Care Unit)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Start Date: December 15, 2025
- End Date: March 16, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 3-4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday night)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1-2
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070
ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or compact state
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience, with strong Neuro ICU background
- Previous travel nurse experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Proficient in airway management, ventilated patient care, central and arterial line management, IV drips, and dysrhythmia management
- Experience with Epic or similar electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Two professional nursing references
ICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care to critically ill adults in a Neuro ICU setting
- Manage patients with acute and subacute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, carotid stents, seizures, meningitis, encephalopathy, post-cardiac arrest, sepsis, respiratory failure, multi-organ failure, and post-surgical needs
- Perform and monitor advanced critical care procedures: ventilator management, EVD and lumbar drain care, CRRT, Arctic Sun, and titration of IV vasopressors and sedation
- Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, manage IV drips, and provide continuous IV sedation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Float to other ICU or telemetry units as needed, maintaining safe patient ratios
- Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
- Accurately document all nursing care in Epic EMR
