- Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Job Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Start Date: December 8, 2025
- End Date: March 9, 2026
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Facility: 32-bed PICU, Level II Trauma Center
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required (may float to NICU, CCU, or Med/Surg units)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2250 - $2310
PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Nebraska RN license or RN Compact license (required for Nebraska healthcare jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience with pediatric patients
- Experience in a large pediatric hospital and Level II trauma center
- Proficient in ventilator management, intubation, and sedation procedures
- Diploma, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply!
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with respiratory, trauma, neuro, and other non-cardiac ICU needs
- Manage ventilators, perform intubations, and administer sedation as needed
- Administer medications and blood products; monitor patient responses and vital signs
- Interpret arterial blood gases and perform thorough patient assessments
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and more)
- Float to NICU, CCU, or Med/Surg units as required by facility needs
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic charting system
- Participate in infection control and isolation protocols
- Provide emotional support and education to pediatric patients and their families
