  • Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Job Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
  • Start Date: December 8, 2025
  • End Date: March 9, 2026
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Facility: 32-bed PICU, Level II Trauma Center
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required (may float to NICU, CCU, or Med/Surg units)
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $2250 - $2310

PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Nebraska RN license or RN Compact license (required for Nebraska healthcare jobs)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience with pediatric patients
  • Experience in a large pediatric hospital and Level II trauma center
  • Proficient in ventilator management, intubation, and sedation procedures
  • Diploma, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) preferred
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply!

PICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with respiratory, trauma, neuro, and other non-cardiac ICU needs
  • Manage ventilators, perform intubations, and administer sedation as needed
  • Administer medications and blood products; monitor patient responses and vital signs
  • Interpret arterial blood gases and perform thorough patient assessments
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and more)
  • Float to NICU, CCU, or Med/Surg units as required by facility needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Epic charting system
  • Participate in infection control and isolation protocols
  • Provide emotional support and education to pediatric patients and their families
