Key Job Details – PACU RN Travel Assignment

  • Location: Lexington, KY 40536 (Kentucky healthcare jobs)
  • Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
  • Duration: 14 weeks (Start: 01/13/2026 – End: 04/21/2026)
  • Shift: 3 x 12-hour day shifts/week (rotating start times: 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM)
  • Total Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800–$1840
  • Call: 2-3 call shifts per 6-week schedule (weekday/weekend as needed)
  • Unit: Interventional Radiology PACU (Prep/Recovery)
  • Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Average Daily Census: ~50 patients

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Compact or Kentucky RN license (required for Kentucky nursing jobs)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nurse experience, including phase 1 recovery
  • At least 1 year of ICU nurse experience
  • Experience with pediatric patient care (not limited to pediatric PACU)
  • Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS (PALS may be obtained before start)
  • Proficient in arterial line management, ventilated patient care, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition/management, medication reconciliation, and pre/post Interventional Radiology procedures
  • Willingness to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Ability to work rotating start times and stay late 3-4 times per 6 weeks
  • 1 reference from a charge nurse or supervisor required at submission
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

PACU RN Responsibilities – Interventional Radiology

  • Deliver pre- and post-procedure nursing care for Interventional Radiology patients in the PACU setting
  • Monitor and manage phase 1 recovery and ICU-level patients, including pediatric and adult cases
  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and respond to clinical emergencies
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more
  • Provide discharge instructions and ensure safe patient transitions
  • Float to main PACU for patient recovery after hours as needed
  • Participate in orientation, annual modules, and ongoing competency exams
  • Maintain compliance with all documentation and regulatory standards
