- Unit: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)
- Start Date: December 8, 2025
- End Date: February 2, 2026
- Duration: 8 weeks
- Shift: Day shifts, 4x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2, based on acuity
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; holiday rotation
- Charting System: EPIC
- Guaranteed Hours: May be cancelled one shift per two weeks
PICU RN Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CVPICU) nursing experience required
- Active South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact Registered Nurse license (or proof of application)
- BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association required)
- ACLS certification preferred (AHA only)
- Clinical experience in cardiovascular and pediatric intensive care
- VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) experience highly preferred; training available
- First-time travel nurses welcome
- Ability to float to NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Stepdown units as needed
Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients with congenital and acquired cardiac conditions
- Monitor and manage patients post-cardiac surgery, including those with VADs, ECMO, CRRT, Berlin Hearts, HeartMate3, and Impella devices
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including physicians, respiratory therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, and ancillary staff
- Utilize advanced hemodynamic monitoring and administer IV vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedation
- Assist with chest tubes, central lines, tracheostomy care, and ventilated patients
- Participate in self-scheduling and maintain flexibility for floating, weekend, and holiday coverage
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC
- Provide education and support to pediatric patients and their families throughout the care continuum
