PCU RN Job Details

  • Location: Charleston, SC 29425 (South Carolina nursing jobs)
  • Facility: Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Hospital
  • Unit: 22-bed intermediate PCU/medical-surgical unit specializing in transplant, nephrology, and urology patients
  • Assignment Type: Travel Nurse Contract
  • Start Date: December 8, 2025
  • End Date: March 9, 2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,570 - $1,610 per week
  • Patient Ratio: 1:3 or 1:4 (night shift)
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Colors: Royal Blue or White top with Royal Blue bottoms

PCU Nurse Qualifications

  • Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN License (must be issued/active before start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, or acute care nursing experience
  • Required Certifications (AHA only): ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Clinical skills: blood product administration, central line care, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), rapid response/code team participation, computerized documentation
  • Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • Availability for every other weekend and holiday rotation

PCU RN Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, including pre- and post-transplant (liver, kidney, kidney/pancreas), nephrology, and urology patients
  • Monitor and manage patients in stepdown and telemetry settings, including bedside monitors and arterial lines
  • Administer blood products and cardiac/vasoactive drips; respond to rapid response/code situations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC
  • Follow infection control and isolation precautions
  • Participate in transplant-specific education and become proficient in peritoneal dialysis within 6 months
  • Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
