Operating Room RN Job Details

• Location: Odessa, TX 79761 (West Texas healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: December 16, 2025
• End Date: March 17, 2026
• Shift: Day shift, Friday-Sunday, 3x12-hour shifts (06:30 - 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Main Operating Room, Level II Trauma Center
• Orientation: 3-4 days
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
• Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1860-$2000

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience (2-3 years preferred)
• Travel nursing experience required
• Experience in community hospital and Level II Trauma Center required
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (all required for OR RN jobs)
• Robotic XI, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general/gyn, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and trauma experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to provide care for all age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics
• Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted (travel nurse position)

Operating Room RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative nursing care to surgical patients
• Assist with a wide variety of surgical procedures: robotic, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general, gynecological, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and trauma cases
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner electronic health records
• Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical education to stay current with best practices in operating room nursing
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and hospital protocols
• Promote a positive, efficient, and supportive operating room environment
