ER RN Job Details

• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Community Hospital, Emergency Department (Level 3 Trauma Center)
• Assignment Length: 16–32 weeks (travel nursing contract)
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour evening shifts (rotating schedule)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2200–$2360
• Patient Population: Neonate to geriatric (adult and pediatric emergency care)
• Orientation: 24 hours for 13-week contracts
• Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe shoes

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York Registered Nurse license (or proof of application)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ER clinical experience
• At least 1 year of specialty experience in Emergency Nursing
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS (or ENPC), TNCC (active or proof of class), NIH Stroke Scale
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (required)
• Ability to manage higher nurse-to-patient ratios in a busy emergency department
• Reliable personal transportation (public transportation not available)

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 1:5 or higher)
• Initiate IVs, perform EKGs, administer medications via Pyxis, and manage drips
• Care for boarded, psychiatric, and COVID-19 patients as assigned
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including advanced practice providers, crisis clinicians, and respiratory therapists
• Document patient care in Epic EMR system
• Follow strict unit protocols, including zero tolerance for cell phone/earbud use while working
• Work every other weekend and meet holiday requirements (2 out of 3 major holidays)
• Participate in orientation and ongoing professional development
