PICU RN Job Details
- Location: Worcester, MA (Zip: 01655) – Central Massachusetts healthcare jobs
- Facility: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a leading medical center
- Contract Type: Travel nursing contract
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/16/2025 – End: 3/17/2026)
- Shifts: Day/Night rotation, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00–19:00 & 19:00–07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2360–$2420
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 (Days, Nights, Weekends)
- Unit Size: 10 beds, average daily census of 7
- Weekend/Holiday: Every third weekend/holiday rotation
PICU RN Qualifications
- Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license (required prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience
- Previous travel nurse experience required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications
- Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Pass/fail Telemetry exam during orientation (minimum score: 80%)
- Completion of all pre-start and orientation modules
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in the PICU
- Administer blood products, anti-seizure medications, antiarrhythmics, and IV vasopressors
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and chest tubes
- Assist with intubation, ventilator management, and acute airway care
- Monitor hemodynamics, intracranial pressure (ICP), and end-tidal CO2
- Perform pediatric dosage calculations and rapid response interventions
- Provide wound care, vaccine administration, and infection control in a clinical setting
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapists, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
