PICU RN Travel Job Details
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska (68114) – Nebraska healthcare jobs
- Unit: Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CVPICU)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2100 - $2250
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Unit Size: 32 beds, average daily census of 21
- Weekend Coverage: Required (3 out of 6 weekends per contract)
PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric cardiac ICU and PICU nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Nebraska or compact state
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Experience with invasive cardiac monitoring, ECMO, CRRT, vasopressors, and sedation drips preferred
- First-time travel nurses welcome
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Must be able to float to PICU, NICU, and Med/Surg units as needed
- Local candidates within a 100-mile radius not accepted
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to neonates, infants, and pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions
- Monitor and manage post-op open hearts, single ventricles, heart transplants, and heart failure cases
- Perform and assist with invasive cardiac monitoring (CVP, ART, RA, etc.)
- Administer blood products, antiarrhythmics, vasopressors, and sedation drips
- Care for ventilated patients; manage central lines, chest tubes, and tracheostomies
- Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Utilize specialized clinical equipment such as BD/Sigma IV pumps, Philips monitors, telemetry, and Servo ventilators
- Float to other pediatric nursing units as required
