Travel Surgical First Assistant Job Details

• Job Title: CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant (Travel OR Tech)

• Shift: Days, Monday – Friday, 06:45 AM – 3:15 PM
• Shift Duration: 12 Hour Days
• Call: 1 week on, 1 week off (minimal call-back, mostly for case completion)
• Estimated Weekly Hours: 36

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Qualifications for CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant

• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Surgical First Assistant in heart, VATS, and vascular procedures
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology and Surgical Assistant program
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification required
• BLS certification required
• Vein harvesting experience preferred
• Must complete Medical Staff privileging process (4-6 weeks; begins upon acceptance)

Key Responsibilities – Surgical First Assistant (CVOR)

• Assist surgeons during cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, including patient positioning, retraction, suturing, and dressing application
• Prepare and set up the operating room with required surgical equipment and maintain sterile technique
• Support room turnover and restock surgical supplies as needed
• Collaborate with charge nurse for assignments and serve as a resource for CVOR procedures
• Maintain CSFA certification and adhere to best practices in surgical patient care and safety
