Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Peoria, Illinois (61637) – Central Illinois healthcare jobs
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1990 - $2130
• Facility Setting: Acute Care – Medical/Surgical Unit (18 beds, primarily private rooms)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/15/2025, End: 3/16/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:00am), 3 shifts/week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Charting System: EPIC EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or proof of application in process
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent hospital experience (Med/Surg RN experience preferred)
• Proficient in titrating Heparin drips
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to general medical and surgical patients with diverse diagnoses
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 5-6:1 during night shifts
• Titrate Heparin drips and monitor patient responses as part of clinical support
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including charge nurses, patient care techs, hospitalists, and respiratory therapists
• Float to other hospital units as needed to provide clinical support
• Participate in shift reports, weekend, and holiday rotations
• Initiate IV starts and utilize unit resources as necessary
• Document patient care using the EPIC electronic medical record system
