  • Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of recent NICU nursing experience (Level 3 or higher preferred)
  • Experience working in a Trauma 1 Center
  • Proficient with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Active Illinois RN license in good standing (Illinois healthcare jobs)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support, American Heart Association) certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, American Heart Association) certification

NICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive neonatal care in a Level 3 NICU setting
  • Implement evidence-based nursing procedures and neonatal care practices
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for the healthcare team
  • Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Monitor and adjust care plans based on patient progress and evaluation
  • Track intake and output for neonatal patients
  • Support mothers with breastfeeding and baby-friendly care initiatives
  • Administer medications safely using bar code scanning technology
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate patient updates
  • Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards
  • Collaborate effectively with nursing colleagues and interdisciplinary teams
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and fulfill competency requirements
