NICU RN Job Details
- Location: Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois healthcare job)
- Facility: Level 3 NICU, Trauma 1 Hospital
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/29/2025 – End: 3/28/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts)
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,360 - $2,420
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse Contract
NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- 3-5 years of recent NICU nursing experience in a Level 3 or higher neonatal intensive care unit
- Experience in Trauma 1 hospital settings
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing
- BLS (Basic Life Support, American Heart Association) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, American Heart Association) certification
NICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive neonatal nursing care in a Level 3 NICU environment
- Implement evidence-based procedures and neonatal nursing theories
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care using EPIC EMR
- Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Continuously evaluate and adjust care plans to meet patient and family needs
- Monitor intake and output for neonatal patients
- Support mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly practices
- Administer medications using bar code scanning protocols
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate patient status
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue ongoing professional development
- Meet all departmental and hospital competency requirements
