Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Abilene, Texas 79601 (Texas nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Unit: Pre-Op / PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 01/05/2026 – End: 04/06/2026)
- Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 – 19:00), varied start times (may start as early as 5AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1800
- Patient Age Groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
PACU RN Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU or Pre-Op Registered Nurse experience
- Active RN license (Texas or compact state) required at time of submission
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (current and valid)
- Pre-Op nursing experience required
- Travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
- Experience with electronic charting systems (Altera preferred)
- Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Ability to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
PACU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care in Pre-Op and PACU settings
- Conduct pre-operative assessments, patient education, and medication administration
- Monitor and manage patients post-anesthesia, ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Interpret and communicate lab values; manage IVs, ports, and central lines
- Administer emergency medications and respond to rapid response situations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy)
- Accurately document care in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Provide discharge instructions and conduct follow-up phone calls as needed
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and isolation protocols
