Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: South Charleston, WV 25309
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry Unit
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 26, 2025
• End Date: February 25, 2026
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 pm – 7:15 am), every other weekend, rotational holidays
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Open Positions: 5 travel RN openings
• Charting System: EPIC electronic health record

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in West Virginia or compact state (required for travel nursing jobs)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry, or Cardiac Stepdown nursing
• Previous travel nurse experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proficiency in critical drips and trach care; peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• Ability to float to other Med-Surg units or Emergency Department
• Strong cardiac nursing background with experience titrating drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Lasix, Dopamine, Amiodarone)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips during each shift
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips according to unit protocols
• Perform trach care and collaborate with respiratory therapists for advanced respiratory support
• Document patient care in EPIC EHR system
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing nursing skills assessments
• Float to other units or Emergency Department as needed
• Comply with hospital dress code (navy scrubs, closed-toed shoes)
• May serve as Charge Nurse and cross-train for additional clinical responsibilities
