- Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007
- Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift
- Healthcare Setting: Medical Surgical Unit (GSU)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: December 29, 2025 (December 15th start also available)
- Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1840-$1890
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Unit Census: 47 beds
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Float Requirement: May float to other Med/Surg, ICU, or ED units as needed
- Orientation: 8 hours (must be available first 8 days of assignment)
Qualifications – Registered Nurse Jobs in Michigan
- Active Michigan RN License
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Strong post-surgical nursing competencies
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions accepted)
- Professional references required
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities – Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy Medical Surgical Unit
- Manage patient ratios up to 1:6
- Perform and manage clinical procedures including:
- Telemetry monitoring
- Colostomy and feeding tube care
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
- Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, and peripheral lines
- Blood product administration
- IV initiation and maintenance
- Heparin and insulin administration
- PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management
- Oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Tracheostomy management
- Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
