PICU RN Job Details

• Location: Des Moines, Iowa (50309) – Iowa nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Job Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Assignment Dates: December 22, 2025 – March 23, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts/week (36 hours/week)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every 3rd weekend/holiday rotation if scheduled
• On Call: None
• EMR System: EPIC
• Float: May float to NICU and ED patient holds

PICU RN Qualifications

• Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience
• PALS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Willingness to float to NICU and ED patient holds
• Completed skills checklist within 1 year of submission
• One supervisory performance evaluation/reference from the past 2 years

PICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to infants, children, and teens in the PICU
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans
• Monitor patient conditions and respond using advanced pediatric equipment and technology
• Educate and support families, offering updates and guidance throughout the patient’s stay
• Float to NICU and ED patient holds as needed, caring for stable infants and assisting with pediatric transport
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR for all patient records
• Participate in every 3rd weekend/holiday rotation if scheduled
