PICU RN Job Details – Albuquerque, NM
- Location: Albuquerque, NM 87106 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
- Facility: Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: January 26, 2026
- End Date: April 27, 2026
- Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30); rotating shifts may be required during the contract (not within a 4-week schedule)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1930-$1980
- Weekend Requirement: 4-5 weekend shifts per schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Unit Beds: 20
- Daily Census: 15
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Black (not provided)
- Parking: Free onsite parking
PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent PICU RN experience (within the last 2 years)
- Experience in a Level I Trauma facility required
- BLS and PALS certifications required (no RQI certs accepted)
- COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
- CRRT and ECMO experience preferred (not required)
- Comfortable floating to NICU and assisting in Pediatric Emergency Department (Peds ED) as a resource
- Experience with EVD, HFNC, ICP monitoring, IV vasopressors, and post-neurosurgery care preferred
- Personal transportation required
- No local candidates within 75 miles of facility
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients (neonates, infants, children, adolescents)
- Monitor and manage patients with complex conditions: respiratory distress/failure, renal failure, trauma, CRRT, ECMO, heme/onc, multi-system organ failure, and suicide attempts
- Administer medications, manage ventilators, and monitor inotropic drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to NICU and assist in Peds ED as needed (IV starts, medication administration, support for admitted pediatric patients)
- Maintain accurate electronic health records using Cerner
- Participate in unit-based orientation and ongoing clinical education
