Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87106 (New Mexico healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Level I Trauma, Children's, Teaching Hospital
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: April 27, 2026
• Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (contract preference available)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2070 - $2120 per week
• On-Call: Required (12 hours over 4 weeks for 4x12s; 24 hours over 4 weeks for 3x12s)
• Unit: Labor & Delivery (12 LDRs, 3 ORs, 5 PACU beds, 7-bed OB Triage)
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Scrubs: Purple scrubs provided
• Charting: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free

Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (NM or compact; New Mexico RN license can be pending at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a large Labor & Delivery unit
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required (no RQI certifications accepted)
• Experience with circulating, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), and obstetric procedures
• Proficient in postpartum care, baby nurse duties, and meconium deliveries
• Ability to float to antepartum and postpartum units as needed
• COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
• Non-local candidates only (must reside more than 75 miles from facility)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity clinical setting
• Circulate for C-sections and assist with obstetric procedures (cerclage, version, C/S, PPTL, AROM, medically assisted deliveries, C-hyst, neonatal palliative care, nitrous, massive transfusion protocol, malignant hyperthermia)
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal monitoring
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support to new mothers
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and provide care in OB triage as needed
• Float to antepartum and postpartum units to support patient care needs
• Document all care accurately using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
