PCU RN Job Details – Johnson City, TN

• Location: Johnson City, TN 37604 (Tennessee healthcare jobs)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract (Start: 12/14/2025 – End: 3/15/2026)
• Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Unit
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (18:30 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: 36/36 or 36/48; every other weekend required
• Type: Travel RN Contract
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Unit Size: 10 beds
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or stepdown nursing experience
• Current AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (travel nursing requirement)
• Ability to float to other units as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Willingness to complete drug testing and fit testing per CDC guidelines
• First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply!

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients
• Monitor and manage patients with complex, intermediate care needs
• Administer medications, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and perform phlebotomy
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, and chest tubes
• Provide wound care, manage surgical drains, and care for tracheostomies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy)
• Support nursing students and participate in clinical education
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Adhere to infection control and isolation precautions
• Float to other nursing units as required
