CVICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: New Brunswick, NJ 08901 (New Jersey CVICU nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: December 22, 2025
• End Date: March 23, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2200-$2360
• Setting: Cardio Thoracic ICU (CVICU/SICU-E)
• Patient Ratio: 1:1–2
• Holiday/Weekend: Every other; must be available to work 2 of 3 holidays

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in a CVICU or SICU setting
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required at time of submission)
• Experience with fresh open heart cases (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR) and advanced cardiac devices (Impella, IABP, CRRT/Prismaflex)
• Proficiency with ventilators, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and post-op open heart recovery
• Epic charting experience preferred
• First-time travel nurses welcome!

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver expert nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including fresh open heart cases and those with advanced cardiac devices
• Monitor and manage ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and patients with chronic/acute renal failure
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, manage BiPAP/CPAP, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Interpret 12-lead EKGs, arterial blood gases, and manage Swan-Ganz catheters, A-lines, and temporary pacers
• Float as needed to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holds, and cardiac IMC units
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold infection prevention protocols
