PCU RN Job Details – Indianapolis Healthcare Opportunity
- Location: Indianapolis, IN 46202
- Unit: A5E – Advanced Heart Care Unit (PCU)
- Contract Type: Travel nursing job
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1770 - $1820 per week
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in cardiovascular and cardiac care
- Weekend Coverage: Must be flexible; required to work at least 50% of weekends
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
- Trauma Level I hospital experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state; must be in hand prior to start date)
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with cardiac PCU, cardiac drips, post cath lab, IV starts, and sheath pulls
- Ability to float to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units within hospital or affiliate hospitals
- Comfortable precepting and mentoring students in a teaching hospital environment
- Local Indiana residents not accepted for this travel nursing job
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, including congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, and infective endocarditis
- Monitor and care for patients post-cath lab procedures, prior to LVAD placements or heart/lung transplants, and pre-valve replacement
- Start and maintain IVs, manage cardiac drips, and perform sheath removals
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; provide cardiac telemetry monitoring
- Float to other units as needed, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and other clinical support services
- Support and mentor students and new staff in a collaborative teaching hospital setting
- Maintain flexibility with scheduling, including weekend and holiday coverage
