• Location: Smithfield, VA 23430
• Healthcare Setting: 32-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit (North and South sides, overflow capacity)
• Job Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• End Date: April 6, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,890 - $1,940

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience within the last year
• Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia or compact state
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS (stroke education)
• EPIC charting system experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Charge nurse and community hospital experience preferred
• Ability to provide at least one supervisory reference

RN Responsibilities – Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to medical, surgical, and telemetry patients
• Manage patient ratios of 6:1 during night shifts
• Float to overflow unit as needed
• Perform and manage procedures: central line care, chest tubes, IVs, wound care, telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
• Administer medications, blood products, and maintain patient safety protocols
• Document care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
• Participate in orientation and ongoing nursing education
