PCU RN Job Details – Augusta, GA
- Location: Augusta, GA 30901 (Georgia nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 14 weeks (Start: 12/15/2025 – End: 3/23/2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00), every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570-$1610
- Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown
- Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
- Unit Size: 36 beds, daily census ~30
- Staffing Ratio: 1:4-5 (high acuity, high patient ratios)
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia or Compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, Stepdown, or Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficient in titrating cardiac drips and telemetry monitoring
- Ability to float within the healthcare facility as needed
- Strong clinical skills: blood product administration, central line care, chest tubes, dysrhythmia interpretation, tracheostomy care, rapid response/code team participation
- Availability to work every other weekend and major holidays as scheduled
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

PCU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced PCU/Stepdown setting
- Monitor and manage patients requiring intermediate care, including neuro, respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical conditions
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips, manage telemetry, and respond to rapid changes in patient status
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, and radiology services
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EHR system
- Float to other hospital units as needed based on patient acuity and staffing requirements
- Participate in orientation and complete all required compliance modules
- Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a high patient ratio environment
